3/30 - More of the wall
Set of from the "Repeater station" for another day of wall hiking. The views were again fabulous- maybe even better than the previous day. Long stretches of intact wall to walk beside and soak in. Housesteads was large and cool to see. Sycamore Gap was iconic. The miles and time ticked by and we soon found our spur to take us to Haltwhistle. Even this path was a joy. It ran along a creek that gradually sunk into a deep valley with lots of trees and great scenery. Haltwhistle is no Hexham. It seemed a bit more run down and on harder times. The train station didn't have an attendant or a bathroom as we waited for the next east bound train. The train was pretty well packed though. I always wonder where all these people are coming from or going to. Returned to our "Heart of Northumbria" for our last meal in Hexam. The Lamb shank was unparalleled. Best meal of the trip. We'll miss this town. It's got a great thing going for it.
