3/26: London day two

Woke up and haunted down to the Thames for a run and some speed work. There’s a path, but debatable if it’s nice. Lots of concrete, cobblestones, brick, and various other surfaces not good for running. It also doesn’t contiguously run alongside the river, rather popping in and out at random points. Still a solid running route for this large of a city, and fantastic views, but it would be hard to train on.

Took the subway down to leadenhall market, aka Diagon Alley from Harry Potter, not actually a great lunch spot, but cool to soak in. Wandered the streets of London, and pit-stopped at the city museum to learn a little history. I didn’t know that at times, the city was basically abandoned in the 500-700 time period.

Found our way into a brewery on the way: temple brew house. Solid beers and pleasant people, a reasonable statement for the trip thus far.

Made it to Leicester square and ended up buying tickets for Matilda and the 7:00 show. Without a ton of time, we grabbed a coffee at “Bar Italia” a well known and old coffee joint in SOHO. Then swung through Chinatown for some noodles and dumplings. Not quite a meal, but enough to maintain for while.

The show was great. I’ve been to a Broadway or two before, but always appreciate more things as I get older. Great singing and choreography.

En route to the way home, we stopped at a row of dessert places we had seen near the museums off our subway stop. I don’t think they were outstanding,  but we’re certainly solid.

Another good day in London, and ready to move on.
